Automatic formatting tag placement When working within Studio, users will be familiar with the concept of tags. Tags appear in your untranslated segments to denote there is information about the formatting and structure in your source document that needs to be taken into account when translating. Previously, the only option for users was to manually insert these tags through a feature called ‘QuickPlace’ which required a fair amount of input from the translator - including highlighting text, selecting tag placement and using keyboard shortcuts. QuickPlace does still exist, but now with Studio 2021 SR1, there's a new, more automated tag insertion feature that will greatly speed up this process. Automatic tag placement is based on our powerful upLIFT Fragment Matching technology and enhances the existing Fuzzy Match Repair feature, among other improvements. With Studio 2021 SR1, fuzzy match repair has been enhanced so that it will now also automatically attempt to apply formatting tags to your fuzzy matches as part of this process, saving you both time and effort, boosting your productivity! You can also benefit from automatic tag placement in situations where no fuzzy match has been found; you can manually type the translation then use the ‘Auto- Insert Tag’ command to add the formatting tags. This great new feature means you can be sure that your formatting is correctly replicated from the source through to translated document. More flexibility for cloud and desktop working When you purchase an SDL Trados Studio 2021 Professional license, you will automatically be given a free, 12-month subscription to its cloud companion, SDL Trados Live Essential Professional. This service release adds the ability to download project packages from SDL Trados Live that include not only the SDLXLIFF file, but also the relevant project translation memories and termbases. Once downloaded, the project package can then be sent to a translator within your supply chain, who will be able to work completely offline in SDL Trados Studio whilst benefiting from all the relevant linguistic resources. In addition, users now have more control over their projects view whilst working in SDL Trados Studio. With the introduction of a new filtering option, users can now choose to view cloud projects associated with a specific account, making it easier to search, track and manage your ongoing projects by customer. Improved terminology capabilities It’s always the little things that make a difference, and this is why we continue to incorporate your feedback from the SDL Community. With Studio 2021, we improved the SDL MultiTerm editing experience by introducing an ‘enhanced edit mode’ that enabled users to edit entries using keyboard navigation and shortcuts. This functionality did not yet, however, extend to picklists. With Studio SR1, keyboard navigation and shortcuts are now supported for selecting, editing, searching and filtering your picklist fields — providing you with a simpler and faster experience when managing your terminology databases. Enhancements to our terminology databases also extend to our cloud-based terminology management offering, LC Terminology. As with MultiTerm, you can build, edit and manage your termbases in this online environment, with the additional benefit of all your terminology being backed up securely within the cloud. LC Terminology has undergone improvements to make it better serve users who would previously be familiar with the offline MultiTerm interface, such as offering more sophisticated term recognition settings and search flexibility when using the browser search option. Over 3,000 neural machine translation language combinations now available! The heading says it all - SDL Machine Translation now offers the broadest language coverage, with more than 3,000 neural machine translation combinations available! “How,” you ask? Well, not only do we offer more than 130 native neural language pairs built and tested by expert linguists, but SDL Machine Translation now also supports language pair chaining, which expands the possible language combinations to more than 3,000. In most cases, the new language pair chain uses English as a pivot language, opening up many new possibilities.Currently, all Trados users are entitled to 500,000 free NMT characters per account, per month, and the new language combinations are immediately available through your free character allowance. This subscription is applicable both within SDL Trados Studio and SDL Trados Live, so whether working offline on your desktop, or online in the cloud, you can use your free machine translation characters at your leisure. Online help now fully localized The new SDL Trados Studio service release heralds the arrival of a number of fully localized translation resources to help and support you when translating with Studio 2021. The resources that have been localized include our online help and Quick Start Guides.*These had previously had only been available in English but are now also available in: Chinese French German Japanese Spanish *Quick start guides include: Project Management Translation Memory Management Translating and Reviewing To conclude, our recent service release has been created to save you time, improve your terminology management experience, and broaden your overall translation capabilities.
