In the 35 years since our founding, Eriksen Translations has proudly remained an independent, quality-focused firm with a woman at the helm. We are pleased to announce that we have just renewed our certification as a woman-owned business with New York City and the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). It makes us proud to see an increasing number of clients make it a priority to seek out diverse suppliers. We know that many of our clients value diversity and inclusion, and by working with women-owned businesses, they are putting their values and beliefs into practice. Like so many women-led businesses, Eriksen has proven resilient and agile in an industry that has undergone vast transformation. At a time when women are starting and growing businesses at record rates, we applaud the impact female-led companies have had on their communities and the business world at large. Brooklyn, New York – September 15, 2021 – Eriksen Translations Inc. (www.eriksen.com), a leading language service provider, is proud to announce that it has been recertified as a Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE) by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) and the New York City Department of Small Business Services. WBENC Certified Remaining independent and woman owned has guided Eriksen Translations’ trajectory since the company’s founding in 1986. Eriksen first obtained WBENC certification in 2001 and quickly became a valuable partner to organizations seeking to build relationships with diverse suppliers. The company supports leaders in the financial services sector, delivering the multilingual solutions global companies need to service diverse client bases and support international workforces. Eriksen also partners with nonprofits, cultural institutions, creative firms, and other organizations that hold diversity and inclusion among their core values. Language Services for the Public Sector Eriksen serves New York City and State agencies by providing language services to support New Yorkers with limited English proficiency. Both the City and State are committed to promoting equitable access to economic opportunities for minority- and women-owned businesses and eliminating barriers to their participation in contracting. Eriksen was first awarded certification by New York City in 2003, followed quickly by New York State certification in 2004. Today the company serves as a language partner to agencies including the NYC Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs, the NYC Comptroller’s Office, the NYC Commission on Human Rights, the NYC Department of Sanitation, and the NYS Department of Health. Independently Woman Owned and Operated “I’m proud to remain 100% independently woman owned and operated,” said Vigdis Eriksen, Founder and CEO of Eriksen Translations. “Certification aligns with our core values of integrity, teamwork, excellence, and diversity. At Eriksen, we work to foster community across different languages and cultures, and we are proud to serve clients who acknowledge that diversity is key to business success!” WBENC Certification WBENC Certification is the most widely recognized and respected national certification for women-owned businesses in the U.S. Accepted as the standard by corporate America, WBENC certification validates that a business is at least 51% owned, controlled, operated, and managed by a woman or women. WBENC-certified WBEs also receive support from other female business owners and like-minded professionals, all of whom are dedicated to the growth and success of women-owned businesses. New York City Certification The City of New York Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (M/WBE) Program expands opportunities for minority and women entrepreneurs to access government contracts and grow their businesses. Established through the enactment of Local Law 129 in 2005, the program strives to promote fairness and equity by enabling M/WBEs to improve their capacity, connect to opportunities, and positively contribute to the local economy. ___________________________________________________________________________________________ About Eriksen Translations Inc.
