TermCoord is proud to announce a new collaboration with the Pablo de Olavide University in Seville, Spain. Every week over the summer, TermCoord will interview students and graduates of the Translation and Interpreting programme at the Pablo de Olavide University. These interviews aim to bring the cultural and human aspects of the translation profession into the spotlight. We want to know what motivates young translators, how their experiences have shaped them and what expectations they hold for the future. By giving young and aspiring translators the opportunity to voice their own perspectives and opinions, we hope to examine how the new generation of translators perceives the current challenges of the profession in a globalised and intercultural world and in how far they are equipped to face them. All interviewees are supervised by Dr. Olga Koreneva, lecturer in the faculty of Translation and Interpreting in German at the Pablo de Olavide University and former TermCoord Trainee. Dr. Koreneva is already a close collaborator in the “Terminology without Borders” YourTerm MED project, for which she conceived a specific semantic scheme, called an “event“, to graphically represent concepts related to diseases. Together with Dr. Koreneva, the interviews will be analysed and a new event will be created. We hope that the findings can help shed some light on the current and future aspects of the translation profession. The interviews are conducted in German or English and will be published as a weekly series on our ‘IATE goes AUDIO‘ page. They are accessible to the general public and can hence also be used as an additional language learning tool centred around the topics of translation and culture. You can already listen to the first interview (in German) below.   Music: Wholesome by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com). Music: 作者:凯文·麦克劳德(incompetech.com).
